The feature bass for this week is a workhorse Warmoth build.
Owner Mike McKaigg writes:
About 11 years ago, before building this bass, I had a six string fretted Gecko also with a Moses neck. The Gecko is designed for a 35″ scale neck but I wanted 34″ scale for the fretless. I contacted Moses and they asked to have Warmoth not route for the pickups so they could set the proper placement. The body is Koa with a quilted maple top. Steve Patience (guitar paint/finishing) of Livermore was affiliated with a shop called Fine Fretted Friends. I looked him up recently and unfortunately discovered he had passed. He did a beautiful job for a great price. Moses was very accommodating with my ideas for this bass. We started out talking about just making it a fretless then I called them up about making it also a headless. They said no problem at all. I get tons of questions and compliments about this bass everywhere I play. It has become my main bass on LoNero’s two tours in support of Tony MacAlpine.
