Check out this week’s BotW, Victor Aramuru’s Custom J Bass from Distorted Branch
“Hi, my name is Victor and I’d like to present to you my Custom J Bass, made by Paul Martínez, luthier at Distorted Branch Custom Guitars in Mexico City.
The bass body was made of 5A – Western Flamed Maple Laminate & Mahogany Body Combo (Exotic Woods Company Inc.)
The bass neck is a 22 fret 4-st Jazz bass Mosses graphite with Hipshot Ultralite Fender tuning keys and a 4 string A style Hipshot Bass Bridge.
The electronic parts were purchased at BBG and consist of:
- Bartolini 9J1 L/LN Pickups
- Bartolini NTMB – 3 Band Preamp 4.7 A/P (initially)
- Nordstrand 3 band Preamp 3b-5b (at present)
I’ve made some video clips while playing this bass, although the preamp shown in them isn’t a Bartolini, but a 3B-5b Nordstrand that I use at present.”

What is the benefit of copper shielding in most bass’s? And I have a Fender Jazz deluxe 5 string and I wanted to know if I needed copper shielding inside the cavIty where my preamp is located? I just wanted to know if that’s necessary for my guitar.
