Seymour Duncan Antiquity II Review

A couple of weeks ago, one of the split pickups on my ’68 Fender Precision Bass died. I had some chat on TalkBass about it and, against the advice of those lovely folks, decided not to have the pickup rewound. Instead, I ordered a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickups from you folks. So…

Tonight I installed them and nervously plugged the old girl in. Now you have to understand that I got this bass used in 1972 (for $250) and have played it more or less continuously over 40 years this year! Well, I’m beyond delighted. She sounds absolutely great and, what’s more, she still speaks in her own voice. Seymour has done a great job with these pickups, lots of antiqued touches to wire, magnets, covers, even rusted screws. (It’s funny but the original ones never rusted…) That ’68 sound is right there. And believe me, I know what that bass sounds like!

I though it might be nice to hear from a satisfied customer now and then. And boy am I ever that.

Best regards, and thanks,
Mike L.
