What do Bartolini P pickups sound like?

We get asked (a lot) if there are any demos of what certain pickups we sell sound like.

For Bartolini P pickups, there is a helpful video below that will give you an idea of what you can expect. The pickups heard in the video below are the Bartolini 8S, Bartolini 8SU, Bartolini 8CBP and Bartolini B-Axis.

Which is the best for you?

The 8S is a great replacement/upgrade pickup for your P bass, and many players comment that the tone leans more towards being “warmer” (as opposed to brighter.)

The 8SU is like the 8S but with “vintage” voicing. You will hear more mids and low-mids with this compared to the 8S.

The 8CBP has a tone described as having more “air” and more note definition for a more modern bass tone.

The B-Axis is a newer pickup technology that emphasizes note clarity, strong resonance and a decidedly modern bass tone.

Still unsure which to go with?

  1. The 8S sounds the best overall IMHO; – I’ve used this pickup for quite a few years. It’s versatile, has a lot of punch, and if it’s deep that U like, then this is the one. Very musical sounding also like most of the Bartolini pickups out there.
