How to install a battery box in your bass guitar

A couple weeks ago BBG tech Max was showing us how to install a set of new Hipshot HB7 tuners, now he’s back with a new video showing us how to install an 18-volt battery box in a bass guitar.

From routing out the cavity, to drilling the hole connecting to the control compartment,  to wiring the power supply, Max takes us through it all.

Quick Tips and Tricks

  • Vinyl transfer tape allows you to plan out your install
  • Drill a relief hole to start, and work out in circles with your router
  • Take it slow and don’t try to route out more than 1/4 inch at a time
  • A paint pen is a great way to mark wires
  • With the battery out of the control compartment, everything should fit easier

  2. I bought one of these brand new form a very big rltiaeer. My first brand new guitar. Up till now, I have only had a few used ones, so I am pumped. The FEDEX guy knocks on my door, HELL YEAH! I open it, take the white foam wrapper off WTF? The first fret is gone! Just a slot in the fingerboard. The fretwire was laying in the bottom of the box! I felt like crying. There was an inspection tag and everything. Shame on me for trusting China
