DESCRIPTION

Zero-Mod Vintage Precision / Telecaster Bass Thumb Rest Clear

Do you want that fat meaty sound you get from the "P Bass/Jazz Bass" thumb rest fingering positions? Do you have misgivings about drilling holes in your Vintage Reissue P-Bass or Tele-Bass?

This thumb rest requires Zero-Modifications to your bass! It gives you the range and reach of the classic Fender rest without drilling any new holes in your bass. Easy on - Easy off -- It uses the existing pickguard screw holes on your bass.

The PBT is made of clear, top quality polycarbonate on precision CNC machinery here in the USA in a NY machine shop -- NOT molded. It is invisible on a black or white guard from a few feet away.

It comes with screws that are slightly longer than your original screws that account for the added thickness of the thumb rest, so it shouldn't even change the holes in your bass. One hole in the rest is centered, while the other is slotted allowing for a perfect fit even though the vintage models' pickguard hole spacing may vary by up to 5mm.

Will the PBT fit my Fender® Vintage Precision Reissue or Telecaster Bass?

(Or Copy vintage P-Basses, or high-end classic vintage P-Basses?)

There are MANY variations of the “Vintage P-Bass" out there, made by MANY companies. This may or may not fit yours.

The PBT rest should fit most Vintage Precision Reissues of 50’s style basses and Telecaster basses, but before ordering, please make sure your pickguard shape and screw pattern will allow the Zero-Mod thumb rest to fit:

See the guard outline picture here to verify that your guard has the screw holes in the same location as the pickguard in the picture, and the same screw-center to screw-center measurement of between 130-135mm.

The PBT WILL NOT FIT ANY OTHER SCREW PATTERN!

Good, but a bit thin for me

Installed on a Squier Telecaster bass, it certainly helped playability as there's really nowhere to anchor my thumb otherwise. I wish it was a bit taller and fatter, possibly shaped in a curve towards the strings a little to give more of an angle like a Fender one would. Of course, there's no drilling and it's almost invisible which is nice. I may end up putting a Fender style one on though, as it just feels a bit odd. Maybe I'll get used to it. Well made and provided with a couple of screw sizes in case the pickguard mounting holes are oversize, which is a nice touch.

Perfection

Exactly as advertised, cleanly constructed and very sturdy. Made a huge difference in the playability of my Nash PB-52 as the stock pickups faithfully reproduce the structure of the original p/u which doesn't leave much to rest your thumb on.
