DESCRIPTION

The 1CB is Bill Bartolini's first guitar humbucker design. It features unequal windings for a clear, clean tone that tends toward single coil. It is well known for its high clarity and definition with a brigher tone in the mids. It brings out every nuance in the inner voices of complex chords. The attack and overall quality of tone is in the region between crisp, acoustic tone and the rounded, or "diffused", treble quality of vintage humbuckers. This allows a very flexible interaction with on-board and amplifier tone settings. With the addition of one of our preamps, the gain can be modified in many ways for tonal shaping and for overdrive characteristics.

*This is a 4 conductor pickup.

Better transient response, articulation and dynamics
By Pedro

I replaced the Select designed by EMG pickups on my Steinberg Spirit passive bass.
I and made a recording before replacing the pickups to compare with the new ones (Bartolini),
I liked the original ones but wanted to try something new and thought that the Bartolini would improve the sound of my bass, this are my impressions:
- The EMGs had slightly more growl and bottom (Low end that sometimes was too much).
- The Bartolinis have more articulation, they are more detailed and more sensitive for dynamics.

I think my bass sounds better, it was worth to wait almost two months for Bartolini to send the pickups as they don´t have them available as other more popular models.

The wiring was slight different compared to the previous ones, you will need to move the capacitor to a different terminal on the pot so the tone control can work but otherwise the installation was easy.

I´m planning to upload a video on YouTube with an A-B comparison of both pickup brands, please leave a comment if you find it :-)

Excellent replacement pickups

Excellent replacement pickups for a 4 string Steinberger type bass (Hohner). One of the few bass pickups that are a direct fit. The sound is much warmer and smoother then the stock EMG Selects, with a very pleasant, full deep tone. The only downside is that the pickups are special order and take some time to get. Good communication from Best Bass Gear.
