DESCRIPTION

Babicz FCH Rickenbacker Bass Bridge (Pre-2020)

The FCH-RIC bridge offers many benefits; such as individual string height adjustments, a wide intonation range, easy (and fully reversible) drop-in installation...all while maintaining the original RIC bridge "look" and features. This double locking bridge also adds incredible tonal stability with the innovative eCAM full contact design, U.S. Patent No. 8,525,008. Weight: 3.17 oz.

*Note 1: Does not include the original RICK bridge/tail frame.

*Note 2: The Babicz FCH Bridge for RICK does not address "bridge lift", found on some 4001 series basses. For optimum performance, a slight lift is acceptable, however if your bridge lift is severe then you may want to consider purchasing a new one

Good option to improve adjustability and intonation

I have installed a Babicz bridge previously on one of my Precision basses. I think it is the best bridge I have ever used. That being said, I was excited to see that Babicz had come up with a replacement bridge for Rickenbacker 4001/4003 basses. I installed this bridge on a 2012 4003 Ric. I think it is important to note that I did run into a couple of glitches during installation. First, the larger Allen wrench included to work with the string height set screws was slightly too large, I tried it about 50 times because I thought it was user error, but then I found one of my wrenches worked perfectly. Not a big deal, but something to be aware of. Second, when I installed the bridge and tightened the screws through the tailpiece and and into the bass, the bridge bent just slightly and I could no longer get all four bridges pieces into place on the bridge plate. I had to loosen the screws, put the bridge pieces into place and re-tighten the bridge plate screws. In my opinion, this should never happen. To resolve this issue, I would recommend that Babicz make the bridge plate a little thicker or change the material to brass which I think would be less likely to bend. I will say I am extremely pleased with the end result though. The bass sounds deeper overall with more sustain. I can now more accurately set my string height and intonation. For the first time ever, the bass truly plays in tune. It is like having a new bass. Still sounds like a Rickenbacker only better.
