DESCRIPTION

Hipshot Bass Xtender BT7

The Xtender gives you the ability to instantly drop the tuning of your low string and then back again with the flip of a lever. The BT7 is a direct replacement for Fender® Highway One tuning machines first featured on many MIM models. It is now a popular choice for many contemporary Fender® basses including Vintage Modified Squier®, USA, and Custom Shop models. Many smaller, independent builders have adopted this machine as well.

    Features

  • Drop a Major 2nd (E-D) and if your strings have standard thickness cores, you can go as low as a 4th (E-B)
  • DoubleStop™ feature gives you a tuning position between the high and low for a total of three tunings on one string
  • Robust stamped and machined steel construction
  • 27:1 tuning ratio
  • Fits 18mm headstock holes
  • Adjustable tension nylon bearing system
  • Stainless steel key prevents tarnishing and rust where you touch the tuner the most

Just What I Wanted!
By John

I was looking for a drop-tuner for my bass. My bass (Sire P10) has non-branded chromed tuners, and this BT7 tuner is nickel. After communicating with the Tech Staff at Best Bass Gear, we agreed that it was probably best to try this nickel tuner. Turns out the appearance and finish is a perfect match for my other tuners! I had to do a slight re-drilling of two of the screw holes to mount it, but that was easily done by drilling with a 1/16" drill bit, being especially careful so as not to drill completely through the headpiece of the bass.

After mounting the tuner, it was easy to dial-in the tune of the drop-key. It holds tune pretty darned well. It does take a number of cycles of the drop-tuner to properly set the stretch on the string so that when I flip the drop-tuner both in and out the string stays in tune--but that's a string issue, not an issue with the tuner.

I'm happy, and the service of advice from the Best Bass Tech was invaluable; shipping and delivery was excellent! Prices are good and I got great help with advice--can't beat that combination!
