John East Marcus Miller Retro 01 Preamp

John East Marcus Miller Retro 01 Preamp

Marcus Miller Retro-01

The Marcus Retro-01 was brought about due to requests from players owning the Marcus Miller basses. Most of the circuit is the same as the Retro except that the bass and treble turnover frequencies, or ‘corner frequencies’, are designed to match that of the Marcus pre.

It's high quality circuit uses three stacked knobs plus a single knob. It includes an active blend circuit plus 3 band equalizer with bass, variable frequency mid, treble and bright function. A passive tone circuit is also included which operates in both active and passive modes.

A very gentle built in contour gives immediate colour without detracting from the basic sound of any bass. The active blend circuit prevents the loss associated with many passive basses where, when both pickups are up full, the signal from one pickup feeds into the other and vice versa.

However, a switch is included to allow a passive equal mix of both pickups. A second switch - basic "get-you-out-of-trouble" passive mode is included in case the battery dies in crucial circumstances, but this mode allows lots of useful settings too.

Easy to Fit, No Routing or Modification to most Marcus Miller J-Deluxe Style Basses. Available in two styles, one model with and the other without the scratch plate. Both options include the same control layout with East's new layout that includes the a single toggle switch. The Active/Passive switch has been relocated to the Passive Tone Control as a Push/Pull design.
