DESCRIPTION

Orange Drop RockTone Passive Push/Pull Dual Tone Control By BBG

  • With the push/pull switch in the down position, the Orange Drop RockTone is an extra subtle passive tone using a genuine .022uf Orange Drop capacitor.
  • With the tone control set to full clockwise, the tone control has no effect on the tone of your bass, just as you would expect from a typical passive tone control. The tone gets warmer and rounder as you roll the control in the antclockwise direction. A certain famous bass player with a four letter first name, known mostly for playing a fretless J-type bass, is reported to have used a .022uf capacitor for the tone control in his bass, especially when soloing jus the bridge pickup. The .022uf capacitor rolls off just the right amount of highs so not to steal away any of the upper mids from the already thinner sounding bridge pickup, leaving the bridge pickup sounding full, with just a little bit of the edge taken off. The cap also has the advantage of being able to help keep the 50 or 60 cycle hum of a true single coil bridge pickup at a minimum, while having only a subtle and tasteful rounding effect on the tone.
  • With the push/pull switch in the up position, a second genuine .022uf Orange Drop capacitor is added into the signal path to bring the edge frequency of the tone control down to that of a typical passive tone control.
  • In the down switch position you can go from wide open Rock tones to a slightly rounder warmer sound as you roll the tone control from full clockwise to full anticlockwise, with subtle variation you would expect everywhere between.
  • Pulling the control to the up switch position with the control set to full anticloclockwise provides an instantly deeper tone, that you are used to as standard equpment on most P & J-type basses with passive tone controls.
  • In the up position, you can roll the tone control to full clockwise so the control has no effect on the sound, just like you can with the down position.
  • The Orange Drop RockTone is a really easy way to expand the tonal pallette of your bass. The tone control is completely passive and only require soldering two wires (wiring instructions included) to the appropriate places in your bass.
  • The Orange Drop RockTone Passive Push/Pull Dual Tone Control By BBG uses a high quality Bourns 500K audio taper Push/Pull pot and two, genuine .022uf Orange Drop capacitors. The 500k potentiometer meand there is a higher resonant peak at the cutoff frequency than with the 250K pot used in the MoTone. This allows sound with more bite and clarity, even when the tone control is rolled to full anticlockwise.
