Control Configuration

  1. Volume
  2. Blend
  3. Tone

This 3 control passive prewire is intended for instruments with 2-pickups, and a single tone control like the Fender Jazz ® bass.

These prewires are built in house by hand and utilize high quality Noble 250k Audio Taper Potentiometers, Sprague Orange Drop 0.047µF capacitors, and Standard Switchcraft Jack.

The Noble pot shafts are 6mm splined, split-knurled shaft. These can be converted to 1/4" if necessary using brass pot sleeves.

Please Note:

The prewire is built with wire lengths for a Jazz ® Bass utilizing the standard control plate. If a different length is required, please specify on your order comments.

Works Great
By Greg Ciulla
I have three custom shop basses that have volume blend and tone controls. I also have a precision that has only one volume. I got really used to playing with only one volume and couldn't get into my jazz bass because of the two volume controls. I popped this harness in and I got the Volume-Blend-Tone setup that I wanted - and they sound better and less scratchy than the old one to boot! I now love my jazz bass.

good value
After owning two active two pickup basses, I had gotten used to the V-B-T type of controls so when I got a Fender Aerodyne Jazz recently with V-V-T controls, I decided to change them. The forums were filled with comments to the effect that the V-B-T setup did weird things to the sound but after installing this in my Aerodyne, I couldn't be happier. It still sounds great and I have the master volume I wanted.

The Aerodyne controls are mounted in the wood rather than on a plate so I had to ream out the holes slightly to fit them. Also, the jack is mounted in a Strat-style angled thing separated from the control picket by more wood. The spacing of the controls was fine but I had to cut off the jack and push the wires through. Then I discovered that the more robust Switchcraft jack was too big for the cramped space under the plate.

So, I went back to the original jack. No biggie.

Bottom line: it was pretty easy. No soldering and sounds great. Highly recommended.

I was so tired of 2 volume controls on my jazz basses. This unit solved all my problems. Will be ordering more and replacing all my passive jazz bass control plates with these..

I just wanted to compliment your company on a quality product. Your website proved to be much help first and foremost when searching for the perfect control layout. I then discovered your pre-wired harnesses for a person who was not blessed with the soldering hand. I love that the leads are already attached so I didn't have to ruin your company's beautiful joints when connecting my ground and pickups. Overall, I just wanted to say thank you on a site, harness, and job well done!
